Dr. Thomas has over 30 years experience in healthcare operations and data management. He holds a Doctorate in Medical Sociology from Vanderbilt University and has served as a consultant to dozens of hospitals, physician practices, clinics, health plans and other healthcare organizations. He is a nationally recognized expert in health data management and is considered one of the founders of the field of health demography.
Dr. Thomas has received several grants for the pursuit of health data projects, including the distribution of health data via the Internet. He has authored or co-authored fourteen books and dozens of articles on health-related topics. He serves on the faculty of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and two healthcare administration programs and is on the board of the American Health Planning Association
